India captain Shubman Gill produced a moment of brilliance in the field, pulling off a sensational one-handed catch to dismiss Sri Lanka batter Kamindu Mendis during the first session of Day 3 of the Galle Test.The catch came off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav and left the Galle crowd stunned as Gill threw himself full length to his left at short extra cover to complete an extraordinary grab just inches above the ground.Mendis had stepped down the pitch looking to push Kuldeep through the off side but failed to control the shot. The ball travelled quickly towards Gill, who initially appeared to move for a two-handed catch before realising he needed greater reach.The India captain stretched out horizontally, stuck out his left hand and held on, ensuring the ball did not pop out as he hit the ground.Gill immediately jumped up in celebration, throwing the ball into the air before punching it in delight. His teammates quickly surrounded him to celebrate one of the standout catches of the match. India dominates Galle

India’s spinners dominated the opening session, reducing Sri Lanka to 99/5 after India were bowled out for 462.Manav Suthar struck twice for 17 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also picked up wickets. Shubman Gill added a spectacular one-handed catch to dismiss Kamindu Mendis for 14.Sri Lanka trail India by 363 runs, with only five wickets remaining. India’s first innings was anchored by Devdutt Padikkal’s 167, KL Rahul’s 82 and Dhruv Jurel’s 51.
