It was discussed that the allotted finance for this work under the 15th Finance Commission is not sufficient. Some villagers raised the issue of stray dogs that, they said, could be dangerous to children and residents. The panchayat said it could set up a dog shelter if land was donated for the purpose. It was unanimously agreed that the Penguin Alcohols tank, which has been opened to lift molasses effluent, has been inconveniencing residents in the vicinity as many children affected by the smell have been suffering from cold and fever. The panchayat said it would write to the authority concerned and pursue the matter so that the entire tank and the effluent is removed before the monsoon commences.
