Bahraich: Shravasti’s drive to reclaim encroached farm roads and Balrampur’s initiative to equip students with foldable study tables have earned top honours from Devipatan division commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal. Citing the June progress report, she described both initiatives as models of people-centric governance and effective administration.Nagpal appreciated the district magistrates and chief development officers of both districts for implementing result-oriented public welfare initiatives. She described the two programmes as exemplary models of good governance.According to the report, 2,456 encroachments were removed across Gonda, Bahraich, Balrampur and Shravasti, while 498 works related to earth filling, brick paving and interlocking of agricultural roads were completed.In her letter to Shravasti DM Annapurna Garg and CDO Shahid, Nagpal said agricultural roads are the lifeline of the rural economy and praised the district for topping the division in removing encroachments and restoring chak roads through effective planning and monitoring.She also lauded Balrampur DM Vipin Jain and CDO Himanshu Gupta for distributing foldable study tables to students in 1,817 government primary and upper primary schools, saying the initiative had improved the learning environment, attendance and student retention.Nagpal noted that Balrampur recently ranked among the top five districts in Uttar Pradesh in education and emerged as the best-performing district in the Devipatan Division despite being an aspirational district.She said the success of governance should be measured by the positive impact on people’s lives and expressed confidence that both districts would continue setting benchmarks in public service through innovation and effective implementation of welfare schemes.
