Gohana (Sonipat): Four witnesses returning from court were allegedly intercepted by eight-nine men travelling in two vehicles, who opened fire at their SUV near Nagar village on Sonipat Road in Gohana on Sunday. No one was injured.According to preliminary information, Ravinder, a resident of Barota village, was travelling with his brother and two relatives after appearing as witnesses in court in a land dispute case. The assailants allegedly surrounded their vehicle, with one vehicle blocking its path, before firing around eight to nine rounds and fleeing.Police spokesperson ASI Ravinder Singh said the incident took place near Nagar village and no one was injured. Police are investigating the matter.Sonipat commissioner of police Mamta Singh said the incident appeared to stem from a land dispute between the two sides and was not linked to any gang. Five police teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the suspects.The dispute allegedly concerns 4-5 acres of land and has continued for nearly one-and-a-half years.A police team inspected the spot and a forensic team collected samples. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and recording statements of those involved to identify the suspects and trace the vehicles used in the attack. Gohana DCP Jitender Gehlot said a case had been registered against 18 persons, six of whom have been named. He said after a location was identified, police conducted a raid, but the accused managed to flee, leaving behind a vehicle. No arrests have been made so far.The DCP said police are hopeful of arresting the accused soon. Five teams have been formed to track down and nab those involved in the case.
