Noida: An international shooter has alleged that armed miscreants attempted to kill him by ramming his car and opening fire in Greater Noida. While Shivam Thakur — a resident of Sector 168 in Greater Noida — claimed it was a deliberate and life-threatening attack, the police denied any firing incident and stated that the matter is under investigation. Shivam, son of Arun Kumar Thakur, has represented India at national and international shooting championships, winning more than 30 gold, silver and bronze medals.According to the complaint, Shivam was chased for over half kilometres by miscreants travelling in a Bolero vehicle in the Ecotech-3 police station area late on Wednesday. During the chase, the attackers allegedly rammed his car two times from behind in an attempt to force him to stop. When he continued driving, the assailants opened fire, he alleged. Following the incident, Shivam called the police emergency number 112. A police team reached the location but, according to him, left after assuring action the next day. He alleged that no follow-up action was taken, no police team revisited the spot, and CCTV footage was not checked. On Thursday, he approached the ACP, demanding registration of an FIR against the accused. Police said the incident involved a collision in which a Bolero hit the shooter’s car from behind and denied any firing. They added that CCTV footage is being examined.
