Gaya: Magadh range IG of police Vikas Vaibhav has ordered the suspension of Amas station house officer (SHO) Dhananjay Kumar and a chowkidar, Ravi Kumar, over alleged dereliction of duty and complaints of bribes being taken for releasing overloaded coal-laden vehicles without legal action.The IG issued the suspension orders on Tuesday and said, “Any dereliction of duty and misconduct would not be tolerated at any cost.”According to a press note issued by the IG, the case relates to Sept 19, when nine overloaded coal trucks were intercepted near the Amas-Sawakala toll plaza between 2 pm and 5 pm. A complaint alleged that Rs 4.5 lakh was collected through a middleman for releasing the vehicles and another Rs 30,000 was taken for not registering an FIR.“An inquiry by the Gaya (rural) SP Divyanjali Jaiswal examined audio recordings, photographs, videos, station diary entries and officials’ reports. The roles of the SHO and chowkidar were found prima facie suspicious,” the IG said.The suspension followed the submission of the inquiry report.
