Shivamogga: Shivamogga district police successfully cracked a total of 174 crime cases—comprising 32 unresolved cases from previous years and 142 cases registered in 2024-25—recovering stolen property worth over Rs 5.7 crore.They returned it to the owners and victims through due legal procedure during a property parade, which was attended by inspector general of police (eastern zone) BR Ravikanthe Gowda in Shivamogga on Monday.Among the major crimes detected were three dacoit cases and 17 robbery cases. The police also successfully traced 1,164 lost mobile phones across various cases, identified their real owners, and handed them back.The IGP announced a Rs 50,000 cash reward for the participating police team for their success in detection. He emphasised that returning stolen property strengthens public trust in the police department while reaffirming their commitment to prioritising crime control, swift investigation, and public safety in the future.District superintendent of police Nikhil B and additional superintendent of police Kariappa were present.
