Mumbai: The Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) on Sunday announced the nomination of Vivek Navandar for the upcoming state council polls from the Parbhani-Hingoli local bodies constituencies seat.

Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve, in a post on X, said that party chief Uddhav Thackeray has announced the nomination of Navandar, who heads the party’s Parbhani city unit.

Parbhani is the only municipal corporation that has a mayor from the Shiv Sena (UBT).
Elections to 16 legislative council seats from the Local Self-Government bodies and a bypoll from the Nagpur self-government body are scheduled for June 18.

June 1 is the last date for filing nominations for the legislative council polls. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 2, and the last date for withdrawal is June 4. Votes will be counted on June 22.
The 16 local self-government bodies constituencies going to the polls include Solapur, Ahmednagar, Thane, Jalgaon, Sangli-Satara, Nanded, Yavatmal, Pune, Bhandara-Gondia, Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Nashik, Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli, Amravati, Osmanabad-Latur-Beed, Parbhani-Hingoli, and Aurangabad-Jalna.The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Friday finalised the seat-sharing agreement for the polls, with the Congress contesting the highest eight of 17 seats, followed by the Shiv Sena (UBT) with six seats and NCP (SP) three.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led party will contest Raigad, Jalgaon, Parbhani-Hingoli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded and Nashik.

Elected members of local governing bodies form the electorate for the election, necessitated by the expiry of the six-year term of the incumbent MLCs.
