Pune: Former Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar will undertake a tour of the state’s drought-affected areas starting from his hometown, Baramati, on Friday.NCP(SP) functionaries said Pawar will interact with the farmers in Baramati on Friday morning. He will also visit Purandar tehsil to review the impact of drought on farms.Pawar has written two letters to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, suggesting various measures for the state govt to provide relief to distressed farmers. He has also urged the chief minister to convene a three-day special assembly session to discuss the drought situation and subsequent relief measures. The former Union minister has demanded that the state govt provide Rs1 lakh per hectare in assistance to the affected farmers.
