Banihal, Oct 5: Banihal-Gool MLA Sajjad Shaheen on Monday laid the foundation stones for two road projects in the Chamalwas-Neel area at a combined estimated cost of Rs 4.61 crore and announced an ambulance for Neel.
The projects include the Krachihal–Tabela Road and the Sinigam–Kawansool Road. Shaheen said improved road connectivity remained a priority, particularly in remote and mountainous areas of the constituency.
He said the projects would improve access to markets, educational institutions and healthcare facilities besides facilitating the movement of agricultural and other local produce.
Announcing the ambulance for Neel, Shaheen said timely emergency transportation was particularly important for residents of remote areas, especially during medical emergencies and adverse weather conditions.
Shaheen said several development projects were also being taken up across the constituency in the education, healthcare, road, bridge, power and water-supply sectors. He said road links and bridges in areas including Khari, Mahoo, Mangit, Pogal, Neel, Gool, Ramsoo and Sangaldan were either sanctioned, tendered or under execution.
He said strengthening the power distribution network, augmenting receiving stations, improving water supply and developing tourism infrastructure, playgrounds and public amenities were also receiving attention.
The MLA said efforts were being made to ensure balanced development across all seven tehsils of the constituency, with particular focus on remote areas.
He urged executing agencies to maintain quality standards and adhere to prescribed timelines so that the projects could be completed at the earliest.
