Lucknow: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) will honour its faculty at the convocation ceremony for the academic session 2025-26 on Tuesday, July 14.The Governor’s Gold Medal will be conferred on Prof Narayan Prasad, head of the nephrology department, for his contributions to academics, research, patient care, leadership and institutional development.The institute will also confer the Prof S R Naik Award for Outstanding Research Investigator jointly on Prof Chinmoy Sahu of microbiology and Dr Alok Kumar of molecular medicine and biotechnology.The Prof S S Agrawal Award for Excellence in Research will be presented to Dr Abhishek S Shukla of neurosurgery and Khushi Shukla of molecular medicine and biotechnology.Under the Prof R K Sharma Award for Best Super-Speciality Students, Dr Adarsha of medical genetics will be honoured as the best DM student, while Dr Samprati Dariya of endocrine and breast surgery will receive the award for the best MCh student.The President SGPGIMS Awards will also be presented for achievements in research and innovation. Dr Tanmoy Ghatak of emergency medicine will be honoured for securing the highest number of patents in 2025, while Dr C P Chaturvedi of haematology will receive the award for obtaining the highest extramural research grant.Prof Able Larence of clinical immunology will be recognised for his department securing the highest number of intramural research projects.In academics, Dr Mahim Naz will receive the Padma Shri Dr S S Sarkar MD Radiodiagnosis Gold Medal. Amrita and Lalita Yadav will receive the BSc Nursing Gold Medal and MSc Nursing Gold Medal, respectively.
