Ranchi: Students’ Federation of India (SFI) will launch a statewide drive from Sept 1 to press for improvement of education in Jharkhand’s schools, its national general secretary Eishe Ghosh said here on Monday.Ghosh, a former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union was in Ranchi to attend a state-level meet of SFI and Democratic Youth Federation of India. At the sidelines of the meet, she said school education in Jharkhand was faced with several shortcomings alongside higher education.“Many of the schools lack teachers while scholarships are not being distributed among the students. A survey would also be conducted to find out other problems faced by the schools.”Ghosh said that SFI, along with other organisations including bodies representing local women and farmers, would visit the schools and raise their issues.She further said the 36-day-long agitation in New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar instilled new hope among students and they have started raising voices for improvement in the education system. Ghosh also congratulated students in Jharkhand for their agitation against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commissions.While taking part in the state-level meet on Sunday, she had raised concern over irregularities in the examination system, adding that question paper leaks have affected the fate of millions of students. She also criticised the coaching-driven examination system in the country.
