Valpoi: Residents of Nanus in Sattari and nearby villages have been grappling with an acute drinking water crisis for the past three days, forcing authorities to deploy tanker services. The shortage severely impacted Nanus, Ansulem and Sadik Wada.“Families in elevated localities have been affected due to erratic water supply. Many households are unable to store water even for basic use. Only a few houses located in low-lying areas are receiving water supply, that too with very low pressure, which is not enough to meet daily needs,” a villager said.Imran Inamdar, a resident of Sadik Wada, said, “We have been facing severe difficulties because of the water shortage this summer. The concerned authorities should restore regular tap water supply at the earliest.”With the system failing to meet water demand, tanker services were pressed into operation on Sunday to provide temporary relief to affected residents. However, locals fear the crisis could worsen if immediate corrective measures are not taken to restore the supply. However, on Monday, officials from the PWD’s water supply division, Valpoi, visited the affected villages and inspected the pipelines. They tried to restore the water supply, but the situation remained unchanged.Officials said a valve-related issue has been identified, and the problem is likely to be resolved by Tuesday.
