Kanpur: Several people suffered minor injuries when two cars collided at Kothari Chauraha in Bithoor around 10 on Friday morning. No deaths were reported.The nearby shopkeepers and passersby pulled passengers trapped in the badly damaged vehicles and took the injured to a nearby private hospital for treatment. The collision caused panic and chaos at the intersection.Local residents said both cars were travelling at a high speed and collided head-on at the intersection. They said speeding vehicles were becoming a major cause of accidents there and demanded effective measures to regulate traffic and vehicle speeds. Police reached the scene after receiving information about the crash, took both damaged cars into custody and brought their drivers to the police station. The drivers blamed each other for the accident.Bithoor police station in charge Ashok Kumar Saroj said the matter is investigated. Police would establish the cause based on statements from both drivers and circumstances at the scene.
