CHANDIGARH: Two private schools in the city received bomb threat emails on Friday, triggering a swift response from security agencies, officials said.
Fire brigade teams, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and an ambulance were rushed to the campuses, and thorough anti-sabotage checks were conducted. Security was tightened in and around the school premises as a precautionary measure.
Officials said similar bomb threats have been reported in recent weeks from schools in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and parts of Haryana. In all those cases, the threats were later declared hoaxes.
A few days earlier, the Punjab Civil Secretariat had also received a bomb threat email. However, no suspicious object or explosive material was found during checks.
