Mumbai: Service of notices for revenue hearings via email will soon be legally valid. The state cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to amend Section 320 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code. Once the amendment is carried out by the legislature, a notice sent to the party’s officially registered or provided email ID will be deemed to have been legally served. The amendment was proposed to avoid frequent delays owing to non-receipt of notice, incorrect or untraceable addresses, or refusal to accept the notice, often resulting in repeated adjournments. State revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said it would provide technical proof of dispatch, save considerable time, and bring greater transparency.
