Mysuru: The selection of three young cricketers from Mysuru in the Karnataka squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy has brought cheer to the city’s cricketing fraternity. It is the first time in many years that three players from Mysuru have figured in the state squad together.Wicketkeeper-batter Krutik Krishna, medium-fast bowling all-rounder Manvanth Kumar and medium-fast bowler LR Kumar have earned their places in the state team, with the Mysuru Zone of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) welcoming their selection.Srinivas Prasad P, convener, Mysuru Zone, KSCA, said Mysuru has produced several players who have represented Karnataka in the past, but having three young and versatile players in the squad makes this selection particularly encouraging. “We hope they make the most of the opportunity and go on to represent India in the future,” he said.Krutik Krishna, 23, has emerged as a dependable wicketkeeper and middle-order batter through consistent performances in domestic tournaments. Manvanth Kumar, 22, is a medium-fast bowling all-rounder capable of contributing with both bat and ball, while LR Kumar, 23, has impressed with his medium-fast bowling performances. Karnataka will open its Ranji Trophy campaign against Andhra at Vijayawada on Oct 11. The 15-member squad will be led by Mayank Agarwal.
