COIMBATORE: More than 270 kg of drugs seized from peddlers in Coimbatore city were incinerated at the Kovai Bio-waste Management Facility at Orrattukuppai on Thursday.These contrabands, seized in 140 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases, were incinerated after respective courts directed police to destroy them at a bio-waste treatment facility. They included 270 kg of ganja, 334 gram of methamphetamine, 1.2 kg of ganja chocolates, 39 mg of hashish and 5,168 painkiller tablets. The contrabands were destroyed in the presence of city police commissioner N Kannan, and deputy commissioners of police G Karthikeyan and P Thangadurai.
