Chennai: NTK chief coordinator Seeman commenced his campaign for the upcoming assembly election from Tiruttani Murugan Temple on Monday, criticising the freebies promised by DMK and AIADMK.“The election is between the parties which give away freebies and NTK, which is opposing it. The two parties (DMK and AIADMK) are creators of the problems faced by the people of Tamil Nadu. NTK has come to solve them,” Seeman said campaigning for his party’s Tiruttani candidate S S Chandran. Seeman offered prayers at Tiruttani Murugan Temple and sang a devotional song for about three minutes. NTK has become the first party to officially commence campaign after announcing candidates for all 234 constituencies. After hitting out at the freebies, Seeman also attacked the `practice of vote for money’. “Casting votes after receiving money is a shame. Vote is the final weapon for the comman man in a democratic country,” Seeman said.NTK entered the poll fray for the first time in the 2016 assembly election and obtained 1.1% of the votes. In the 2024 Parliament election, NTK grew to 8.3% of the votes and became an ECI recognised party.Recalling the vote share he obtained in the previous election, Seeman said though his growth was gradual, he has not given money to voters. “We (NTK) have become the third largest party in the state without giving money to voters. We will continue that. The growth was possible only with the support of my brethren,” Seeman said.
