Pune: Wakad police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old security guard for allegedly attempting to kill his wife over suspicion of infidelity. The accused also stabbed his daughter when she tried to rescue her mother.The incident happened late on Tuesday night when the woman (30) was in the kitchen. She sustained stab wounds to her waist and ribs, while her daughter suffered injuries to her right hand and leg. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 118 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).An officer from the Wakad police said, according to the complainant, her husband regularly harassed her over suspicions of infidelity. On Tuesday night, when she was in the kitchen, he started abusing her and tried to throttle her. When the woman resisted, the accused picked up a sharp knife and stabbed her in the waist and ribs. “Their daughter rushed to the kitchen to save her mother. The accused attacked her too,” the officer said, adding that the woman and her daughter are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
