Patna: A notorious criminal involved in a failed daylight robbery at a jewellery shop has succumbed to his injuries. Golu Mishra, who was critically injured during a severe beating by villagers at Lala Chhapar market in Gopalganj district, died while undergoing treatment in Patna on Monday morning.With this, the death toll among the accused has risen to two, marking a grim end to the botched heist attempt.The incident occurred on Friday at a jewellery store in Lala Chhapar Bazaar under the Jagatauli outpost of the Bhoreh police station area. A group of armed criminals arrived on bikes and stormed the shop intending to loot gold and silver items, but were thwarted by locals.As the miscreants attempted the robbery, villagers quickly mobilised, surrounded the shop and blocked escape routes. The criminals allegedly opened fire in panic, leading to the death of an innocent bystander, Dablu Mishra, 28, from Sisai village.Enraged residents overpowered at least two accused. One, Vishal Yadav, died on the spot after being beaten. The second, Golu, was rescued by police in critical condition but later died during treatment.Hathua SDPO Anand Mohan Gupta said, “One died on the same day, while another, who was referred to Patna on Sunday, also passed away. An FIR has been registered against unidentified people who brutally beat the robbers.”
