Jaipur: State Election Commission (SEC) Wednesday rescheduled the polling date for Pali Nagar Nigam from Sept 9 to Sept 11 to accommodate the Jain community’s request against holding elections during Paryushan Mahaparv. The change followed a memorandum from Shri Sangh Sabha of Pali, emphasising that many Jain voters would be engaged in religious observances on Sept 9.Conversely, polling for Fatehpur Nagar Parishad in Sikar district has been advanced to Sept 9 from Sept 11 due to anticipated large gatherings on Bhadrapad Amavasya, which local administration warned could complicate traffic and voter turnout.Additionally, SEC adjusted polling dates for seven urban local bodies in Bikaner district based on similar concerns about religious events potentially impacting voter participation. Bikaner Nagar Nigam will now vote on Sept 9, while other bodies will cast ballots on Sept 11.
