Sebi Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey inaugurated the office, which will function under the administrative control and jurisdiction of the regulator’s Northern Regional Office in New Delhi.
The office will facilitate redressal of investor grievances against listed companies and market intermediaries, besides promoting investor education and financial literacy, Sebi said in a statement.
It will also engage with issuers, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Stock Exchanges, Municipal Bonds and Corporate Bonds, in its jurisdiction.
The office will undertake other functions as may be delegated to local offices from time to time, the statement added.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is the statutory regulator tasked with overseeing India’s securities and capital markets.
