Sopore, August 09: Security forces and investigating agencies on Sunday conducted searches at 26 locations across Sopore and adjoining areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in connection with a case involving the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
According to officials, the searches are being carried out under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged activities and network associated with the proscribed organisation.
Multiple teams have been deployed across different locations, where residential and other premises are being searched for evidence related to the case.
Officials said the operation is aimed at verifying the alleged links and activities of individuals suspected of being associated with the banned organisation and collecting further evidence during the investigation.
Security arrangements have been tightened in the areas where the searches are underway to maintain law and order and facilitate the operation.
