Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) conducted a massive ticket-checking drive across the zone on Monday, inspecting 169 trains with 186 staff to crack down on ticketless travel, irregular passengers and unbooked luggage.During the drive, officials detected 4,121 cases of ticketless and irregular travel, besides passengers carrying unbooked luggage, and realised Rs 30.5 lakh in penalties.SCR also fined 35 passengers Rs 7,300 for littering, collected Rs 38,000 in penalties from 19 unauthorised hawkers, and imposed Rs 4,000 in fines on two passengers for smoking on railway premises.Passengers were also sensitised about the fire hazards of smoking in trains and railway premises and urged to avoid littering and help keep stations and trains clean by following good civic practices.
