T’puram: A two-wheeler rider was killed after being hit by a speeding car near the Vazhamuttam signal on Kazhakkoottam-Karode National Highway on Saturday, with police attributing the accident primarily to rash driving and over-speeding.The deceased is Pradeep Chandran, 42, of Vazhamuttam. The accident occurred around 11.50pm, when a car driven by a Tamil Nadu native, who was travelling from the Thiruvallom side towards TN, hit the two-wheeler near the signal.A night patrol police team reached the spot soon. Chandran was soon shifted to MCH. However, he succumbed to his injuries.The police took the car driver into custody and seized the vehicle. Thiruvallom Police have launched an investigation.The stretch has witnessed fatal accidents in the recent past. In another accident in the same area, two elderly sisters were killed after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road.
