Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police have lodged an FIR against the management of a private school for using a power generator without obtaining permission from the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).The FIR has been lodged on the statement of the assistant executive engineer (Urban West), who stated that the school management had installed a generator in the building without availing permission from the department. He added that the use of the power generators could be harmful for the people living in the vicinity.Investigating officer from Division No. 8 police station ASI Hardeep Singh said an FIR under sections 125 (acts done so rashly or negligently that they endanger human life or personal safety of others), 270 (public nuisance) and 280 (voluntary, conscious act of making the atmosphere “noxious to health” for the residents, workers, or passersby) of the BNS had been lodged against the school management.Earlier, the Division No. 8 police had booked the school management on May 12, 2023, for using staff quarters and classrooms for commercial purposes, as the management had allegedly rented out the staff quarters and even some rooms of the school as paying guest accommodations. Another FIR was lodged against the management of its another branch on Jan 8, 2025, at Division No. 5 police station for cheating and illegally running commercial activity on the land that was allotted by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) to the management for school.
