Hyderabad: Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to interfere in a land survey dispute in Jeedimetla village involving BRS MLA and former minister Ch Malla Reddy and his son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, MLA of Malkajgiri, observing that the survey process had already been completed.A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and NV Anjaria refused to grant relief, holding that no interference was warranted at this stage since the survey had been conducted pursuant to orders of Telangana high court.
The dispute relates to 1.29 acres of land in Jeedimetla in Quthbullapur mandal in Medchal Malkajgiri district. The controversy centres on competing claims over portions of the land, including 33 guntas claimed by a software employee. Malla Reddy, his son Ch Mahender Reddy, and Rajasekhar Reddy, who claim ownership of the land, had opposed the survey, citing an ongoing civil dispute over title and possession. Earlier, a single judge of the Telangana high court permitted the survey. Aggrieved, Malla Reddy approached a division bench, which on Feb 2 dismissed the plea seeking to stall the survey process. Challenging the division bench order, the family moved the Supreme Court seeking to set aside the high court’s decision and halt the survey proceedings.During the hearing, the Supreme Court noted that the survey had already been completed in accordance with the high court’s directions. In view of this, the court said it was not inclined to interfere with the impugned orders. However, it granted liberty to the Malla Reddy family to challenge the survey proceedings if they were not conducted as per the norms of the Survey and Settlement Act, and disposed of the matter.
