Surat: Saroli police have issued a notice to the organisers of JG Navratri, directing them not to hold Garba celebrations at a venue near Roman Dine Hotel on Puna Canal Road in Surat without obtaining the requisite licence and permissions.According to the notice issued on Wednesday, the organisers had planned to hold Navratri celebrations from Oct 11 to Oct 20.The notice stated that the organisers were required to obtain a premises licence by submitting the necessary documents and certificates as mandated by government regulations. However, they had allegedly failed to submit the required documents and secure the licence despite being informed in writing, verbally and over the phone. The police warned that the event could not be held without the requisite approvals and that legal action would be initiated if the organisers proceeded without permission. The notice was addressed to Shakti Gohil, a Varachha resident, and named three other organisers — Jay Gohil, Sahil Domadiya and Jaydeep Galoliya.Saroli police inspector SR Vekariya told TOI, “We have not allowed Garba to be organised at the venue on Thursday. The organisers have failed to produce several mandatory permissions, including those from the roads and buildings (R&B) department, a fire safety clearance and a structural stability report, among other documents. We will not allow the event until all the necessary permissions are submitted to us. We will also initiate legal action for the first three days of garba celebrations that were held without permission.”
