Jaipur: Industrial wastewater management in the Sanganer textile cluster is set to expand, with nearly all member textile units expected to be brought under a common effluent treatment network once a key pumping station is completed in Aug.According to official information, 758 of the 892 member textile units have already been connected to the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), while the remaining units are proposed to be linked after the completion of the pumping station at Brahmanon Ki Guwar, targeted for Aug.“To meet the deadline, the progress of the CETP pumping station and pipeline project was inspected by additional chief secretary (forest and environment) Anand Kumar and secretary, department of environment and climate change (DoE&CC) Vijay N, who reviewed the ongoing construction works,” said a Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) official.The CETP expansion programme is being implemented by the RSPCB along with the concerned implementing agencies to connect eligible textile units to a common system for the treatment of industrial wastewater.The matter was reviewed during the third Raj Unnati meeting held on March 28, 2026, where chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed that the remaining textile units be connected to the CETP in a phased manner under a mission-mode approach. The pumping station and pipeline project was reviewed again during the sixth Raj Unnati meeting on June 19, 2026, when directions were issued for its early completion.The pumping station and pipeline project is being executed by Sanganer Enviro Project Development (SEPD), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed by the member industries.“Construction work was delayed due to proceedings before the JDA Tribunal. The project resumed after the Jaipur Development Authority granted land permission on June 21, 2026. Construction activities restarted on June 24,” an official said.Once completed, the remaining member textile units are proposed to be connected to the CETP network, enabling nearly all member industries in the Sanganer textile cluster to route industrial effluent through the common treatment system before disposal.An official said, “Currently, many textile owners are sending water from their units in tankers, but this is not enough considering the amount of water used in processing clothes, and the remaining wastewater ends up reaching the river.”
