Nagpur: A sand-laden truck rammed a govt vehicle of Umred Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Umesh Chavan on Umred–Bhiwapur road at around 3pm while he was on official duty, and then fled, police said. Umred police later arrested the driver and seized the truck. An offence was registered under the BNS. According to cops, Chavan was travelling towards Bhiwapur when he spotted a truck allegedly transporting sand illegally. When he tried to stop it, the driver did not slow and instead struck Chavan’s vehicle before fleeing. Chavan was not injured. Chavan informed Umred police. Police chased and intercepted the truck and detained the driver, Rajat Rohankar (29), resident of Kharbi, Nagpur. SP Dr Harssh Poddar said, “A case has been lodged for attacking a public servant.” TNN
