Vasco: Villagers demanded that chief minister Pramod Sawant bifurcate the Sancoale panchayat for efficient administration and timely delivery of services during his visit to the port town on Sunday.Panchayat member Santosh Dessai said there has been a sharp rise in population within the panchayat over the past several years, while ward boundaries have remained unchanged.Dessai said Sancoale is among Goa’s largest panchayats in terms of voters and floating population, with more than 8,000 residents in ward 1 alone.He said the current panchayat secretary is overburdened and unable to address public grievances properly.Sawant reviewed the hardships caused to people by excavation work near MES College junction and instructed the departments concerned to take necessary action.
