India’s 28 big listed real estate firms’ collective sales bookings fell 21 per cent to nearly ₹40,000 crore in the latest June quarter due to lower volumes, as some big developers refrained from launching housing projects amid global economic uncertainties.

According to data compiled from investor presentations, total combined sales bookings, or pre-sales, of the 28 major listed real estate companies stood at ₹39,964 crore in the first quarter of 2026-27 compared to ₹50,900 crore in the year-ago period.

Real estate consultants attributed the fall in collective sales of these listed players to factors, including no fresh launches by key companies, a high base effect, and cautious sentiment among prospective homebuyers, due to global economic uncertainties amid the West Asia conflict.
They hoped that sales numbers would revive from the second quarter onwards.
Many listed players do not report sales booking numbers, which have become an important metric to evaluate the operational performance of any company.
Revenue recognition of the sales bookings done by these developers is linked to the completion of real estate projects.
Real estate developers, which are not listed on stock exchanges, generally do not report their quarterly and annual sales bookings.
