Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday directed officials to develop a digital portal to track apprenticeship and placement data of trainees passing out from the state’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).Chairing a review meeting of the youth empowerment and entrepreneurship department, Saini said the data of ITI graduates should also be made available to industrial units through a dedicated platform. He also asked the department to organise employment fairs in every district and prepare a calendar for them.The chief minister directed officials to put in place a monitoring system to track whether ITI graduates secured jobs after completing their courses. Records of students undergoing internships are also to be maintained.He stressed the need to upgrade ITIs in view of rising demand for skilled manpower, especially with the development of 10 IMTs in the state. He also called for a focus on quality training and new technologies, including artificial intelligence.Reviewing infrastructure, Saini directed replacement or upgradation of outdated and non-functional machinery and sought attention to instructor training and maintenance of ITI buildings.He also reviewed private ITIs and ordered strict action where irregularities were found.In a separate meeting, Saini reviewed the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and directed departments to ensure timely utilisation of funds, submit utilisation certificates on time and appoint nodal officers to coordinate with the Centre.
