Noida: Noida Authority is set to appoint an agency to implement its Safe City project, under which 1,949 CCTV cameras will be installed at 561 locations across the city. The surveillance network is aimed at strengthening security, traffic management and emergency response. Noida CEO Krishna Karunesh said a request for proposal (RFP) would be issued soon.The Safe City project, set to come up at a cost of Rs 212 crore, will feature an integrated ICT-based surveillance and monitoring system covering residential and commercial areas, industrial sectors and key public places. The project will also include intelligent traffic management systems, emergency panic buttons and public address systems.The initial plan included emergency buttons at 100 locations, which has been increased to 147. Cameras equipped with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) will be installed at 100 locations, variable message display boards at 20 locations and public address systems at 418 locations.The Authority will set up an integrated command and control centre in Sector 94, along with a dedicated data centre and backup storage facility, enabling centralised monitoring and helping ensure continuity of surveillance operations.Officials said the project is expected to be completed within a year. It is being implemented under the Centre’s Nirbhaya Fund, which supports initiatives aimed at improving the safety and security of women and children in public spaces.
