Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday urged Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini to register an FIR against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann as well as the police officers “who manufactured fake forensic reports with the sole motive of refuting the Akal Takht and lowering its dignity”.Addressing a press conference here, SAD functionary Parambans Singh Romana said, “It was unfortunate that a case was registered against only two persons concerned with the laboratories, whereas the fabrication and forgery were committed by senior Punjab Police officers.”He said, “Since the two laboratories concerned were not equipped for an intricate examination of the video, the report was edited and given final shape by the two officers, and hence a case should be registered against both officers.”Romana said, “It must be ascertained as to who got the reports prepared and who gave money to the accused to procure the same.”He also called for “seizure of all phones, laptops, hard discs and other technical equipment in the possession of the two Punjab Police officers as well as their staff to get to the bottom of the case”.He added, “The call record details of the officers should also be examined to reveal who was giving them directions.”Senior Akali Dal representative Bikram Singh Majithia, in a video message, alleged “misuse” of “secret funds”. He said, “Every chief minister and DGP has some secret funds. Those secret funds are used to stop any conspiracy against the govt. But for the first time, secret funds are being misused to save Bhagwant Mann. To prepare a deepfake forensic report, which was exposed yesterday. I demand an inquiry. How was a secret fund used for such a thing?”Majithia also alleged “misappropriation” of some “secret funds” by some officers, while demanding an inquiry by the CBI or the Enforcement Directorate.Slamming the AAP-led govt, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said, “The state is passing through the gravest moral and constitutional crisis in its history. The recent developments have completely exposed the Punjab Aam Aadmi Party govt and raised serious questions about its integrity and respect for Punjab’s religious institutions.”Dhillon said, “No political office can be greater than the honour and sanctity of the Akal Takht. The honour of Akal Takht is above every chair, every office, and every political ambition.”Demanding immediate action, Dhillon said, “CM Bhagwant Mann must resign without delay, while Arvind Kejriwal must answer before the people of Punjab.”Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar posted on social media, “Bhagwant Mann’s viral video is not a political issue at all. It is a matter concerning the religious sentiments of the Nanak naam leva sangat.”Jakhar stated, “The real issue is how an arrogant individual is challenging the supreme Akal Takht.” He added, “Despite everything that happened, if a person accused of disrespecting the Guru Sahiban continues to remain in power on the land of the Gurus, how will we be able to raise our voice against challenges to our faith arising around the world? This is something Punjab needs to reflect upon. Can a Sikh tolerate this?”Jakhar further stated, “And Bhagwant Mann Ji, if you want to leave the decision to the people, then, just as Arvind Kejriwal sought a mandate from the people in Delhi and the people sent him home, you should resign and go before the people and see for yourself.”“Sikhs of the Guru follow the teaching, ‘Sees Diya Par Sirar Na Diya’ (one may give one’s head, but never surrender one’s principles or honour). This grave sin cannot be escaped through the power of office. For a Sikh, no one is above the Guru. The Guru Sahib and the Sangat will deliver justice,” he said.MSID:: 131970854 413 |
