Patna: Over 36 lakh applications for certificates and other citizen services submitted through Bihar’s panchayats were disposed of in the past two years, with the RTPS portal achieving a disposal rate of about 97%, the panchayati raj department said on Thursday.The RTPS portal offers 64 public services, including issuance of caste, income, residential, birth and death certificates, among others. Citizens can track the status of their applications online and download certificates using the login number generated at the time of submission.According to the department, 37.87 lakh applications were uploaded through panchayats during the past two years, of which 36.91 lakh were disposed of within the prescribed timeframe.With more than 8,000 panchayats across the state, the portal has emerged as a key platform for delivering citizen services at the village level. On average, around 300 applications are submitted every month in each panchayat for various services.Among the 38 districts, Madhubani topped the state in disposal of RTPS applications, followed by Siwan, Sitamarhi, Saran and Samastipur. Madhubani, which has 385 panchayats, cleared 3.10 lakh applications against 3.15 lakh received during the period.Siwan disposed of 2.85 lakh applications out of 2.89 lakh received, while Sitamarhi cleared 1.83 lakh of 1.89 lakh applications. Saran processed 1.71 lakh of 1.78 lakh applications and Samastipur disposed of 1.40 lakh against 1.42 lakh applications received.The department said the RTPS portal has made the delivery of certificates and other public services more transparent and accessible. Any errors detected during processing are rectified promptly to ensure adherence to the stipulated timelines, it added.
