Patna: Nearly Rs 80 lakh in cash, jewellery worth over Rs 52 lakh and documents linked to seven properties were recovered during searches at locations linked to a senior Bihar govt official and his wife in a disproportionate assets case, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau said on Tuesday.The case was registered on Sept 25 against Ravindra Kumar Diwakar, additional collector (supply), Patna, and his wife Kumari Sweety, sub-registrar, Danapur. The FIR alleges the couple possessed assets worth Rs 1.06 crore disproportionate to their known income, around 47% higher than their known sources.Following search warrants issued by the Special Court of Vigilance, Patna, four teams searched four locations on Sept 28, including their Patna residence and office and residence in Begusarai.Officials recovered Rs 79.98 lakh in cash, including Rs 70.53 lakh from the Patna flat and Rs 9.44 lakh from Begusarai. Gold, silver and diamond jewellery worth around Rs 52.60 lakh was also recovered.Investigators identified seven immovable properties bought in the couple’s names between 2017 and 2026. These include two flats in Danapur and five plots in Phulwarisharif and Begusarai, with deeds putting their combined value at Rs 2.92 crore.Documents linked to LIC investments and two State Bank of India accounts were also recovered. The accounts are being frozen.The searches also yielded 48 wristwatches worth around Rs 6.01 lakh, bills for three air conditioners, Godrej products and other electronic goods. An SUV was also found. Further investigation is underway.
