Silchar: Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Customs department and Cachar police, seized around 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets valued at Rs 45 crore from a truck near Lalpani in Cachar district on Tuesday evening, officials said.Acting on specific inputs about suspected inter-state narcotics trafficking, the joint team intercepted the truck bearing a Manipur registration number. Officials said the driver allegedly tried to evade the security personnel under the cover of darkness but was stopped after a brief operation.A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets. The truck and a mobile phone were also seized.One person was apprehended in connection with the consignment. The accused, along with the drugs and other seized items, was handed over to the Customs department for further investigation and legal proceedings.Officials said the operation dealt a significant blow to an inter-state drug-trafficking network. Investigators are trying to ascertain the origin and intended destination of the contraband and identify others associated with the supply chain.
