Patna: More than 11,600 households in Patna district have been covered under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Solar panels have been installed at 1,375 Below Poverty Line (BPL) and over 10,300 non-BPL homes.According to a district administration release, district magistrate Kundan Kumar has asked officials to accelerate the drive and meet the Oct 30 target. The district has also set a target of installing rooftop solar systems at 28,000 non-BPL households by the same deadline. More than 10,300 non-BPL households have already been covered, while over 30 installations are being carried out every day, according to a district administration release.Reviewing the scheme’s progress on Sunday, Kumar directed officials to ensure that the pace of installations does not compromise quality. He also emphasised the need to maintain an uninterrupted supply of solar panels and related structures to avoid material shortages.Under the scheme, non-BPL beneficiaries are eligible for an additional state subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt, subject to a maximum of Rs 20,000 per beneficiary.The DM also directed banks to prioritise loan applications from eligible beneficiaries. He said the scheme would help households reduce electricity bills while promoting green energy and environmental conservation.
