Jaipur: Shri Rajput Karni Sena president Mahipal Singh Makrana Thursday warned BJP of an electoral backlash in the upcoming urban local body elections if the UGC decision was not rolled back, saying his organisation would campaign against the party.Makrana said the community would support only candidates who give a written undertaking or affidavit backing withdrawal of the decision. He said press conferences would be held across Rajasthan, urging voters to reject both BJP and Congress in the civic polls.Community workers, he said, would campaign door-to-door in support of candidates who pledge to seek rollback of the UGC decision.Makrana said the group would soon travel to Delhi to demand withdrawal of the UGC decision. “If the UGC decision is not rolled back, we will work to roll back BJP,” he said, adding that the political campaign would remain democratic and constitutional. The slogan “Kamal ka phool, savarnon ki bhool” was also raised during the press conference.Referring to the Aug 3 Karni Sena rally against the UGC Regulations 2026, Makrana demanded action against officials responsible for the lathicharge. He said merely transferring the police station was not enough and alleged that no action had been taken against the officials concerned.Makrana demanded their suspension and said accountability must be fixed for the action taken against protesters during the rally.
