Noida: With the inauguration just two days away, the workers were seen putting finishing touches on Noida International Airport. Some were fixing tiles or putting up hoardings, while the others were busy setting up the tents for the mega launch on March 28.On Wednesday, a TOI team visited the airport. It found that the road connecting the airport to the Yamuna Expressway had a few rough patches near Kishorpur village. This road has been designated as a cargo passage. Officials said repair work on the surrounding roads is underway, and workers were seen patching up this very road. Inside the campus, road rollers were levelling the ground to make elaborate parking arrangements for visitors.
In the terminal building, check-in counters, baggage handling systems (conveyor belts), boarding gates, flight information display system, customs area were being put through final checks. On the other hand, fully functional restrooms, seating areas, and escalators are waiting for the passengers. Crew members from a private airline company have also been deployed at the airport.Workers have set up three large tents for the inauguration programme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the airport. There will be three tents which will accommodate over one lakh people. There will be separate entry and exit gates for VIPs and the general public.
VIPs will use the link road of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to attend the launch event. Others will be allowed through the Yamuna Expressway-Kishorpur road. There will be separate seating arrangements for VIPs, the public, and a media gallery. There will be multi-layer security equipped with CCTV cameras at the spot.Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh also visited the airport site and reviewed the preparations. He said that the main pandal is nearly ready. “This will be a grand pandal supported by two pandals on both sides. This will ensure that the visitors do not face any inconvenience. Water dispensers will be installed at short distances. The entire campus will be equipped with a public address system to guide people,” he said.“Jewar will make its name on the global map and it will help it grow further. I invite everyone to attend the programme and hear the Prime Minister,” he said.District administration and authorities are making elaborate arrangements to make the event successful.The BJP has been holding meetings in Noida, Greater Noida, Bulandshahr, and neighbouring areas to invite people to the programme. MP Gautam Buddh Nagar Mahesh Sharma conducted a public outreach programme in Khurja, Bulandshahr, in preparation for the grand inauguration of the airport. He visited several villages, interacted with locals, and invited them to attend the inauguration ceremony in large numbers at 9.30 am on Saturday.“The commencement of operations at Noida International Airport will generate new employment opportunities, boost trade and industry, and significantly improve regional connectivity. The project is expected to enhance the state’s identity at both national and international levels,” he said.
