HYDERABAD: The FSSAI licences of 11 restaurants in Gachibowli, Hitec City and Madhapur were suspended by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) on Saturday, with the establishments ordered to stop operations immediately following the detection of serious hygiene and other violations.Among the outlets ordered to shut are well-known establishments such as Antera Kitchen and Bar in Gachibowli, Fusion 9/Amnesia Sky Bar and Am Aha Telugu Kitchen and Bar at Inorbit Mall.The other eight establishments are Shivani – The Restaurant and Bar and Al Saba in Gachibowli, Lucky Multicuisine, Sai Ram Mess and Udupi’s Upahar in Madhapur, and Coal Spark, Kanchi Cafe and Monastery in Hitec City.At Antera Kitchen and Bar, food safety officials found spoiled and fungus-contaminated vegetables, expired food and cockroach infestation.Improvement notices to six eateries, show-cause to three The kitchen and washing areas at Antera Kitchen and Bar were unhygienic, with broken tiles and greasy walls and floors, while drains were blocked.Officials also found improper refrigerator storage, with food items not labelled and vegetarian and non-vegetarian products being stored together, a food safety official said. At Fusion 9/Amnesia Sky Bar, officials found cockroach infestation and rat faeces inside the premises.At Al Saba Restaurant, officials specifically found staff chewing gutka. Cigarette butts and gutka packets were found inside the kitchen, along with gutka stains in some areas, the official said.Officials also issued improvement notices to six eateries – Rameshwaram Cafe in Madhapur, Ishtaa in Gachibowli, Sahibs Barbeque and Pakka Local in Hitec City, and Hotel Shadab and Shah Ghouse in Gachibowli – directing them to rectify the identified lapses. The establishments will be re-inspected, officials said.“At Shadab, Shah Ghouse and Rameshwaram, the kitchen floors were not properly maintained with visible cracks and parts of the washing sinks were heavily rusted and broken. The refrigerators were also poorly maintained with uncovered food stored improperly inside. We have asked the management to comply with the hygiene rules,” the food safety official said.Show-cause notices were also served on White Elephant Food Works (63 Degrees), Minerva Grand at Kondapur and Hotel Avasa at Hitec City. Penalties will be considered, officials said.
