Lucknow: A 26-year-old railway employee allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself while on a video call with his girlfriend.The deceased was a resident of Alambagh. He was employed in the electrical department of Indian Railways and had secured the job on compassionate grounds following the death of his father.According to family members, he lived alone in Alambagh due to his job, while the rest of the family resided in the Chinhat-Satrikh road area. His brother said the family received information about the incident on Friday evening and rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.A close friend said that the deceased had been spending the evening with friends at his residence. Around 7 pm, he reportedly asked everyone to leave the room before making a video call to his girlfriend.During the conversation, he allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan using a rope. Shocked by what she witnessed, the woman informed the sister of one of his friends, who then alerted the family.When relatives and friends reached the house, they found the door locked from inside. After repeated knocks went unanswered, they broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police sent the body for postmortem.Officials said no suicide note was found and no formal complaint was received from the family. The exact circumstances leading to the alleged suicide are being investigated.
