‘Karuppu’ director RJ Balaji has finally responded to rumours surrounding the film’s release delay. He confirmed that the Suriya starrer will hit theatres as planned on May 14. The film has already received its censor certificate, and fans are now eagerly waiting for the trailer launch. Interestingly, the trailer was also censored recently, but the team has decided to wait for the right moment before releasing it. The makers reportedly want the trailer to fully grab audience attention and “seize audience hearts”.
RJ Balaji and team wait for the right moment
In a recent video message shared on social media, RJ Balaji explained the reason behind the trailer delay. “Next week this time, we will be busy releasing ‘Karuppu’. Trailer ready. I strongly believe you all will love it,” he said. He added that the current political climate and election-related discussions could divert attention away from the trailer if it is released immediately. “We are waiting for the right clarity and the right time,” he said. Promising a powerful promotional cut, he added, “You will get a trailer exactly the way you want it.” His emotional line, “Karuppan kooda irukaan… nammalai nalla paathukkuvaan,” has already gone viral among fans online.
RJ Balaji opens up about the film’s delay
Earlier, RJ Balaji had openly spoken about why the film took longer than expected to complete. He revealed that the movie was initially planned for a Diwali release, but production delays pushed the schedule further. “Those delays helped us correct many mistakes,” he explained. Even though release dates were discussed for January and February, he strongly believed the film needed a festive and family-friendly release window. “This is a festival kind of film. Families should enjoy it together in theatres,” he said. According to him, releasing the film during exams, election campaigns, or heavy political seasons would have affected the overall reach and mood around the film.
‘Karuppu’ aims to arrive as a Summer festival entertainer
‘Karuppu’ features a strong supporting cast including Trisha Krishnan, Swasika, Shivada, Yogi Babu, and Indrans. With the release date locked for May 14, the team is currently busy with final-stage promotions and release work. Fans are now expecting the trailer announcement very soon after the political noise settles down. “We want the trailer and the film to reach people in the best possible way,” RJ Balaji said, raising excitement further for what is being promoted as a complete summer family entertainer.
