Panaji: Revolutionary Goans (RG) national president Viresh Borkar and state president Shavina Shirodkar met Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Goel to object to the participation of an unauthorised individual at an all-party meeting convened to discuss the summary revision of electoral rolls.Borkar raised concerns over former North Goa treasurer Mahesh Shirodkar attending the meeting and urged Goel to ensure that only authorised party functionaries represent RG at election-related training programmes, meetings and conferences.“Kholkar had no authority to represent the party at the CEO office meeting and the representation on behalf of the party was illegal. We will take strict action against individuals found misusing the party’s name, including legal action, if necessary,” Borkar said.Shavina asked CEO officials to verify the credentials of party representatives participating in election-related activities. The episode comes amid an ongoing power struggle within RG between Borkar and party founder Manoj Parab, which has left questions over the party’s leadership unresolved.A war of words has also erupted between suspended party functionary Ajay Kholkar and Borkar over Mahesh Shirodkar’s presence at the CEO office meeting. Kholkar has alleged that Borkar received Rs 3 crore from state Congress president Girish Chodankar. Borkar has denied the allegation and threatened to file a defamation suit against Kholkar.“Kholkar should prove what he is claiming. If he has any proof, I will resign as an MLA,” Borkar said.Kholkar, meanwhile, has challenged Borkar to initiate action against him, saying he is ready to face the consequences.
