Panaji: Vishvesh Naik on Tuesday resigned as RG’s general secretary and also gave up his primary and founding memberships. His departure came after the lone RG St Andre MLA, Viresh Borkar, said on Monday that he had dissolved all committees and that Naik’s order terminating his primary membership was null and void.A day after his expulsion, Borkar said the committee “doesn’t have the right to terminate me from the party”, because he is the party’s national president. He said the expulsion order is “null and void” as those who issued it are “already under suspension”.Borkar said the party’s election process would be completed within 45 days. A “hidden agenda will come out”, he said, and the party organisation would be rebuilt and strengthened. He said it was necessary to stop those in the party who were “misleading the people”, and that once steps to strengthen the organisation were initiated, people would understand the reason behind his decision. Borkar recently took control of the party by suspending all party committees.Responding to allegations by fellow members, Borkar said, “There is a conspiracy against me.” He said he has constituted a disciplinary committee that will take appropriate action against those involved in anti-party activities.RG cited anti-party activities, indiscipline, and violations of the party constitution, and directed Borkar to stop representing himself as a party member or office-bearer with immediate effect. In the termination order, Naik said Borkar was issued a show-cause notice on April 16, followed by five reminders, the last on June 18.
