Hyderabad: Taking a swipe at the chief minister, BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of introducing a new scheme called ‘Rahul Bandhu’ by diverting funds meant for farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.Speaking at a felicitation programme organised for newly elected councillors in Sircilla on Monday, KTR said the Congress govt had consistently delayed and denied the Rythu Bharosa assistance that farmers were entitled to receive. He accused the chief minister of diverting farmers’ funds to please the Congress high command. He said that while farmers across the state waited for the promised Rythu Bharosa assistance, which the Congress claimed it would enhance, the state govt failed to release the funds. He alleged that the govt had already defaulted on Rythu Bharosa payments multiple times and had once again delayed the scheme this season.Mocking the Congress leadership, KTR said the chief minister appeared to have introduced a new programme called “Rahul Bandhu”, under which Telangana farmers’ money was allegedly diverted to benefit Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership. He claimed that nearly Rs 1,000 crore annually was effectively diverted for political appeasement instead of supporting farmers. He further alleged that the Congress govt failed to fulfil its electoral promises. “The Congress came to power by making extravagant promises through various declarations, but after assuming office, it failed to implement those commitments and instead betrayed all sections of society,” he said.KTR announced that the BRS would raise the issue in the upcoming assembly session and would introduce a private member bill demanding legal backing for the six guarantees promised by the Congress. He asserted that through this legislative pressure, the BRS would ensure that the Congress govt honoured its commitments and delivered the guarantees promised to the people of Telangana.
