Mohali: A survey across villages on the proposed Chandigarh-Mirzapur CTU bus route has found strong public support for the service, with residents citing the lack of reliable public transport as a major concern.The survey covered Palanpur, Dulluan, Khadri, Abhipur, Gochar and Mirzapur, where villagers, students, employees and daily commuters said a regular bus service would ease travel to Chandigarh for work, education and healthcare.At a meeting in Gochar, representatives from villages along the route unanimously backed the proposal, saying it would benefit thousands of commuters, including students, women, senior citizens and labourers.The survey concluded that the route has substantial passenger potential and is likely to be both socially beneficial and operationally viable. Besides improving connectivity, it could lower travel costs, enhance road safety and provide a safer travel option, particularly for women and girl students.Residents have urged Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) to introduce the Chandigarh bus stand-Mirzapur service at the earliest to meet the long-pending transport needs of the area.
