Times News NetworkChandigarh: In a bid to plug the gaps and ensure full collection of daily revenue from the paid parking lots, the municipal corporation, Chandigarh, has deployed engineering staff to keep vigil on the parking employees and their working. The move came following an internal assessment that parking lots are not generating full revenue as per expectations.“’junior engineer rank officers have been deployed for the monitoring of paid parking lots of the city. They will now be regularly visiting the paid parking lots of the city and plug the gaps and remove anomalies, if any, in any paid parking lot. He will also submit his report time to time to the senior officials of the authority to apprise them of the real situation of the paid parking lots of the city,” sources told TOI.Since the civic body launched the one-pass facility for its all paid parking lots on Jan 27 in collaboration with a private bank, the authority has been witnessing a consistent increase in revenue since then. Not only in the case of revenue collected through online mode for the one-time pass, but overall revenue from the paid parking lots too, which includes online as well as manually issued paid parking slips, have also witnessed a hike.The municipal corporation has also tied up with BSNL to send messages to around 9 lakh owners of Chandigarh registration vehicles to persuade them to get the passes to avail themselves of the parking facility in the civic body-run paid parking lots of Chandigarh.
